How does the counsellor work?

As a relational integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, Christian is concerned with how people relate to each other and the world around them. At the heart of Christian’s approach is being open-minded and offering an understanding space in which to explore sensitive and private matters in a delicate manner. He adapts his style of working to the needs of the individual and commits to providing an environment that is safe, supportive and non-judgemental. Together, you and Christian would explore your experiences and feelings, concentrating on what you consider most important. Integrative therapy is designed to have a flexible approach which enables the counsellor to closely follow your unique way of experiencing the world, adapt to your personal way of being and the different types of issues you might bring to counselling. Working closely along side you, Christian's aim would be to help you make sense of your issues and/or to explore ways of approaching them in a potentially different way to enable you to either find solutions to problems or new perspectives on life. He also focuses on empowering you to identify and build upon your existing strengths or develop new strengths to help you work through your current and future challenges. Integrative therapy also makes use of Mindfulness CBT which has the potential to promote greater awareness and control of your thoughts and feelings. Christian offers short term counselling in Newport or longer term psychotherapy. He is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adheres to their code of ethics and complaints procedure.
